BLAST Open 3 2027 heads to the United States with a Swiss format

BLAST has officially announced Open 3 2027 in the United States with a revised format and $1.25 million in combined prize money and team payments.

A five-day Swiss stage

BLAST Open 3 2027 will take place in the United States from September 3 through September 12. Sixteen teams will enter the tournament. The opening phase will last five days and use a Swiss system, matching teams with comparable records until eight participants have earned places in the playoffs.

The organizer also confirmed the event’s overall financial package. Prize money and team payments will total $1.25 million. Because the figure combines performance prizes with payments made to participating teams, it should not be read as a conventional prize pool alone.

Eleven invitations and five qualifiers

The field will consist of 11 direct invitations based on VRS and five teams from regional qualifiers. North America will receive two of those qualifying positions, giving the host region an expanded route into the event. The other three berths will be distributed through qualifiers in additional regions.
