HEROIC officially welcomed Jesper “Udknud” Larsen as its VRS & Data Analyst on October 15. The appointment shows that ranking and calendar management are becoming a distinct sporting function for clubs.
A new specialist at HEROIC
HEROIC announced Larsen's arrival through the team's official account. The post joked, “We'll never miss the Major again,” before introducing him as the organization's VRS & Data Analyst. The line is promotional framing, not a promise that the team will qualify.
Dust2.us reports that the VRS and data position was newly created. The outlet also says Counter-Strike 2 had not previously seen a hire of this kind, but that remains Dust2.us's characterization rather than an industry-wide established fact.
Scheduling becomes sporting strategy
HEROIC CEO Joachim Harg said tournament scheduling had become “incredibly important” since the introduction of VRS. He added that the club cannot be certain of winning every match, but that Larsen should help it play the matches that matter most in its effort to return to the top.
Udknud is known for public VRS analysis and Major-race models. In an October 15 update, he assessed teams' chances and highlighted the impact of their next matches. Those percentages are time-specific model estimates, not official forecasts from Valve.
