HLTV overhauls Attributes with 29 new metrics

HLTV has released a major update to Attributes, the set of indicators designed to describe how professional Counter-Strike players operate. The system now includes 29 new metrics, six separate tables and role-aware comparisons.

Separating style from outcome

Attributes were introduced in 2024 as a complement to rating: rating measures performance, while attributes are intended to describe how a player acts. The update sharpens that distinction. Entrying, for example, now uses tradeable deaths instead of deaths that were actually traded, while Opening uses opening attempts instead of opening kills.

HLTV has also reduced the number of metrics displayed inside each attribute. The interface usually shows four inputs that contribute to the final score. Nineteen of the 29 new metrics are available directly in the Attributes panel, with the other ten placed in the expanded stats tables.

Closing and role-based comparison

Clutching has been renamed Closing. Rather than focusing only on rare clutches, the attribute now covers a broader range of late-round situations, including how often a player is alive after the bomb is planted or becomes the last surviving member of the team.

By default, Attributes now compare a player with the average for their role. Riflers are measured against riflers, while players with more than 0.20 AWP kills per round in the selected sample are compared with AWPers. Users can still switch back to all-player comparison. Sniping remains an exception and keeps its separate treatment.

Six new tables

HLTV has launched one dedicated stats table for each style attribute. They hold outcome-oriented data removed from the main panel and new indicators such as Trade Kill Success, Clutch Swing and AWP Swing. The tables support IGL, AWP and Rifler filters; HLTV says award-show roles such as opener, anchor and closer are planned for later.
