PGL introduces a $30,000 tournament withdrawal fine
Teams also risk losing their next direct VRS invite and reimbursing organizer costs.

PGL has added three consequences for rosters that withdraw after confirming tournament participation.
PGL has updated its Counter-Strike 2 rulebook with penalties for withdrawing after participation is confirmed. Any roster that pulls out becomes ineligible for a direct VRS invite to the next PGL event for which invitations are sent. This consequence applies regardless of the timing or surrounding circumstances.
Financial consequences
If a team withdraws from the Main Event, its organization must fully reimburse flights and accommodation already arranged by PGL, cover the costs of the replacement team, and pay a fixed $30,000 fine. The measures target late withdrawals tied to teams managing their VRS position before a Major invitation cutoff.
Exceptions and timing
Reimbursement and the fine do not apply to a documented medical emergency or a visa refusal caused by factors outside the team's control. A late or incomplete application does not qualify. No exact effective date has been announced; because tier-one events require ten months' notice in their additional information, the rule is unlikely to apply to a PGL LAN before the event beginning September 4, 2027.
