Unannounced LAR rifle model discovered in CS2 files

Files connected to a rifle labeled LAR were discovered in CS2 after the October 28 update. The group includes a weapon model, animations and an icon intended for the user interface. The discovery was reported on October 29. The assets are stored in a directory named do_not_ship, placing them in a location whose name explicitly indicates that the contained material is not meant to ship in its current state.

No official announcement

Valve has not announced LAR as a new Counter-Strike 2 weapon. The model, animations and icon confirm that related assets exist in the client, but they do not answer whether the rifle will be released. Its characteristics, place in the arsenal and possible launch date remain unconfirmed. The file discovery must therefore be separated from an official presentation of a finished in-game item.
