The barrel and the stock
On the AWP, two parts take up most of the screen: the long barrel and the stock. Many designs put the main artwork on the stock and keep the barrel simpler. That matters for wear. On the AWP | Asiimov, the white barrel collects dark scratches, while the orange parts hold up better. On the AWP | Dragon Lore, the gold barrel turns dark at high wear but the dragon on the stock survives. When you compare AWP skins, check the barrel first.
Float ranges that change everything
AWP skins have some of the most unusual ranges:
- AWP | Asiimov starts at 0.18, so it only exists as Field‑Tested, Well‑Worn or Battle‑Scarred.
- AWP | Lightning Strike ends at 0.08, so it only exists as Factory New or Minimal Wear.
- AWP | Neo-Noir ends at 0.50, which leaves a narrow Battle‑Scarred band.
- AWP | Hyper Beast covers the full range from 0 to 1.
The exteriors guide shows how ranges map to exterior names.
Sources: cases and souvenir packages
Most AWP skins come from weapon cases and have StatTrak™ versions. The Dragon Lore is a notable exception: it belongs to The Cobblestone Collection and comes from tournament souvenir packages, so it exists as a regular or Souvenir item, but never as StatTrak™. The StatTrak and Souvenir guide explains why the two can't be combined.
Picking an AWP skin
Catalog images show the rifle from the side, but in a match you see it from the first-person angle, where only part of the design is visible. If the in-match look matters most to you, compare inspect screenshots as well as catalog images, and use the comparison guide for a short checklist.
